the GT30 racing weekend in Olbia

The champions involved in the Italian round of Formula 1 H2O were the ideal backdrop to the racing weekend in Olbia for the second seasonal round of the Italian GT30 Championship which involved the two young drivers of the Rainbow Team – the famous team with an operational base in Casale Monferrato – Ettore Bo and Stefano Genoa.

However, the great drivers of world powerboating were not the only protagonists of the Sardinian weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June: the climatic conditions and in particular the strong wind determined the entire event. So much so that the activity was completely canceled on Saturday, compromising the free practice session.

The drivers returned to sea only the following day when, after a very short free practice session, they immediately moved on to timed qualifying which did not smile on either the Neapolitan or the Monferrato driver, who in fact achieved a 5th and a 6th ° place on the starting grid.

«Such reduced times certainly didn’t help us, just as they didn’t help any team in the race – explain Fabrizio Bocca, former Formula 1 World Champion, and Elisa Manzetta Bocca, respectively team principal and team manager of the Rainbow Team – but it is It was a further opportunity for our kids to grow, also because unexpected events like these can be the order of the day.”

A few minutes after qualifying, race 1 began and saw a great start from Genoa which, however, following a spin, lost two positions and found itself forced to chase again for the entire race. Bo, who started one position further back, was unable to gain the right confidence with the circuit right from the start.

Again due to the wind it was not possible to complete race 2, for this reason the final ranking saw the starting positions confirmed: 5th Genova and 6th Bo.

«The kids first know that they can do better, but theirs is first and foremost a training course, which is why we are ready to start again – conclude Fabrizio Bocca and Elisa Manzetta Bocca – The next appointment with the GT30 will be in September during the Viverone Grand Prix within the Waterfestival program we will also organize in 2024. For this reason we are all more excited than ever and ready to demonstrate what we are made of!
