The Lombardy Region and the Lombardy Ecclesiastical Region have signed a collaboration protocol to carry out a project aimed at young people, called “Giovani IN Cammino”.
The initiative was born and consolidated within the partnership with the Ecclesiastical Region of Lombardy which, through ODL, the network of Lombardy oratories, promotes courses for young people who work in oratories as community animators.
The words of the Undersecretary for Sport and Youth, Lara Magoni: «This project, with an important financial commitment from the Region of 500 thousand euros, aims to encourage the development of oratories within which young people can feel part of a group and of a community. In this way, youth protagonism is promoted, giving them skills and training and, a very important aspect for me, preventing possible uncomfortable situations.”
«We believe it is essential to accompany and support the need for autonomy and the desire for fulfillment of our girls and boys. Giovani In Cammino is the confirmation that, through training experiences and care for others, one is able to build solid personal identities, capable of developing and promoting inclusion, participation and animation, essential characteristics for living with peers and in their community. In addition to ODL, my heartfelt thanks go to all the people who make these projects possible, fundamental moments for our young people: our present and future.”
The Giovani in Cammino initiative commits resources for 750 thousand euros, of which 500 thousand at the expense of the Lombardy Region and involves the implementation of 120 project actions, developed by each individual implementing body (oratory), which can initiate partnerships, also through experimentation of co-design tools. These actions will be activated starting from 1 September 2024 and will end by 31 December 2025 and for each of them training, educational, aggregative and sporting activities will be carried out.
The words of Don Stefano Guidi, director of the Fom (Foundation of Milanese oratories) and coordinator of ODL (Lombardy Diocese Oratories): «The regional call for Youth on the Way aims to support the daily educational activity of the Lombard oratories. The projects presented aim to work on some important areas: youth aggregation, sport, inclusion, initial housing independence. The announcement also expresses the concrete contribution that Lombard speakers bring to the development of our society and the well-being of young people. I would like to thank the Lombardy Region for the constant and creative attention it provides to our speakers.”
