In Lecce we go back to voting: on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June the citizens are called to the polls again for the run-off that will decide the new mayor of the city. The challengers are the former parliamentarian and minister of agricultural and food resources in the first Berlusconi government Adriana Poli Bortone (centre-right) – former mayor of Lecce from 1998 to 2007 – and the outgoing mayor Carlo Salvemini (centre-left), the two most voted candidates of the electoral round of 8 and 9 June. The polling stations will be open from 7am to 11pm on Sunday 23rd and from 7am to 3pm on Monday 24th. As soon as the polls close the counting of votes will begin (ALL ADMINISTRATIVE RESULTS).

How it went in Lecce in the first round

In the first round of the municipal elections Adriana Poli Bortone was the most voted candidate in Lecce, collecting 49.95% of the preferences (26,053 votes). Supporting her are 10 right-wing and centre-right lists. Carlo Salvemini – supported by 9 lists of the broader centre-left – reached 46.73% (24,373 votes). Also in the running were the civic candidates Alberto Siculella (1.71%, 890 votes) and Agostino Ciucci (1.60%, 837 votes).
