Colli al Metauro (Pesaro), 18 June 2024 – Yesterday morning, the deployment of firefighters on the bridge over the Metaurus Between Calcinelli and Villanova and, if you look better, even below, in the middle of the river water. More than one called the newspaper, to warn that something serious had happened and at the same time to find out more: “There must have been a bad accidentthere are many firefighters”, “a car has fallen off the bridge, they are trying to pull it to shore, can you tell me if there are any victims?”, the tenor of some calls.
Afterwards the apprehension gave way to much more relaxed states of mind, because it was learned that those many men and vehicles of the fire brigade were there for an exercise, organized by the regional management of the Marche fire brigade in execution of specific national directives. All expected, then. The operations, which will continue for another two days, always at the height of the bridge above the Metaurus along the Sp 16 Orcianesehave been set up to test a series of module handling and rescue procedures in river and flood scenarios.
No fear, therefore, if today and tomorrow (in the morning and in the afternoon until 6pm) there is a commotion in the waters below and also above the bridge, which to guarantee the parking of some vehicles and the carrying out of all activities connected to the exercise will be passable in an alternating one-way direction regulated by a traffic light.
Yesterday, after the initial dismay, many followed from a safe distance, with curiosity, the procedures implemented by the firefighters, who arrived with at least 10 vehicles, including a helicopter, vans, off-road vehicles and motorized dinghies. What attracted attention, in particular, was the recovery of a car from the river.
