Beating in Piazza Bottesini in Turin | Disabled elderly man beaten by a drunk

In the early afternoon today, Monday 17 June 2024, an elderly man was savagely beaten inside the gardens of Piazza Bottesini in Turin. A drunken North African approached him and beat him up, also using the walker that the man, known to residents, usually uses to get around. The scene was seen by numerous residents, who called the police. Some, however, started hunting the attacker. The agents of the Barriera Milano police station prevented the latter from being lynched, who took him away (it is still not clear whether he was arrested). Instead, the medics loaded the elderly man into an ambulance and took him to the Giovanni Bosco hospital. It is possible that he suffered a fracture of the nasal septum.

“I find it unworthy and shameful – says Verangela Marino, group leader of the Brothers of Italy in District 6, also present at the scene of the beating – that these episodes can occur at two in the afternoon and above all that crazy balls continue to be left on the street and dangerous like this individual who already last week was the protagonist of a bad gesture with another drug-addicted woman. In fact, the two attempted to deceive the same elderly man to steal a few euros from his pocket in order to recover his daily dose. astonishing. I hope that this person will not only be kept in prison, but will be permanently removed from circulation and entrusted to responsible services that can treat him and keep him away from respectable people like the gentleman in question”.
