Avellino, condemnation for an Irpinia fan who committed acts of violence at the Menti in Vicenza

This afternoon, staff from the Avellino Police Headquarters, following investigations conducted by the local DIGOS in collaboration with the DIGOS of the Vicenza Police Headquarters, notified Cecere Stefano, class of 84, Irpinia ultras leader, of a five-year DasPO provision issued by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Vicenza. The aforementioned prevention measure, in parallel with the criminal proceedings that arose from it for the criminal cases perpetrated, became necessary following the serious acts of violence carried out by the ultras leader inside the “Romeo Menti” stadium when, during the semi-final of the Vicenza-Avellino playoffs, he was responsible for serious acts of intemperance which also resulted in the match being suspended for a few minutes, broadcast live on the Rai Sport channels.

The Irpinia fan, after having climbed over the fence and reached the pitch, went near the sector occupied by the Vicenza fans and hit a local fan with two fists and attempted to take possession of a banner. His conduct jeopardized the management of public order, leading to moments of strong tension between the respective fans. Hence the need for today’s police provision which will prevent ultras fans from accessing for a period of five years all facilities where sporting events of all categories are held, including during friendly matches in Italy or abroad and also to the places interested in the parking, transit and transport of those who participate or attend the events themselves.
