Four hundred at the painting festival – Teramo

TERAMO. There were four hundred artists from all over Italy who met in the center of Teramo on Saturday and Sunday for Extemporamnia, the traditional painting festival. And there were five hundred works that the people of Teramo were able to admire while walking between Piazza Orsini and Piazza Martiri della Libertà. This year’s Festival of Extemporaneous Painting was dedicated to the Genoese singer-songwriter Fabrizio De Andrè.
It kicked off at 3pm on Saturday with the ribbon cutting in the presence of the organizers and the authorities; there were painting spaces for children, with prizes awarded for the most particular works, and at 7pm the free concert of “I Princesa” in Piazza Martiri della Libertà (tribute to De André). Yesterday the event ended with the award ceremony, at midday, of the winners of the three planned artistic competitions: the contemporary art one, the humorous-caricature one, and the Academy one – high schools and art institutes. This year too, therefore, the event, which has now become a consolidated tradition, saw the participation of hundreds of artists who came to Teramo from all over Italy to make their work known.
So does the mayor Gianguido D’Alberto: «Extemporamnia confirms itself as an extraordinary exaltation of beauty, that of our city which returns to host many artists from all over Italy and which this year also includes the formidable talent of the great Fabrizio De Andrè. With culture and art, we continue to move towards the future.” The appointment with the painting festival is for next year.
