The thirty-seven-year-old from Agrigento who allegedly attacked a 118 health worker with kicks and punches in recent days has been released. Last Friday, according to a reconstruction, a man felt ill and contacted 118. In via Platone, in the district of Bonamorone, an ambulance had arrived to provide assistance.

The healthcare worker allegedly refused to administer some drops and this caused the man to go into a rage at two separate moments.

Inside the house and in front of the building, the operator was allegedly beaten and kicked and the minor son of the rescued patient contributed by hitting the rescuer with a padel racket. The 118 operator suffered various injuries and was transported to hospital with scattered injuries.

The 37-year-old remains under investigation for resisting a public official and causing bodily harm

The thirty-seven year old from Agrigento ended up under house arrest, he is now free and remains under investigation for the crimes of resisting a public official and causing personal injury. The investigation also involves his fifteen-year-old son, whose position is being handled by the Palermo Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. The suspects are defended by the lawyer Monica Malogioglio while the investigation is coordinated by the prosecutor Elenia Manno.

“A cowardly act”

For the Seus Board of Directors composed of the president Riccardo Castro and Pietro Marchetta and Maria Stella Marino, you know it was “a cowardly act, unfortunately yet another towards the 118 operators, who carry out their duty with great professionalism and self-sacrifice” .

“The utmost solidarity goes to our rescuer, we are ready to protect him in every location” conclude the members of the Board of Directors.

Giuseppe Misuraca, head of the 118 Operations Center in Agrigento, also intervenes: “I strongly condemn this serious act of violence which once again affects emergency personnel. We are close to our colleague and wish him a speedy recovery.”

Assault on the rider

The previous evening another attack had taken place in Palermo, yet another episode of assault and armed robbery against a 42-year-old Glovo rider in the Tommaso Natale area. This was reported by the general secretaries of Nidil Cgil Palermo Francesco Brugnone, of Filt Cgil Palermo Fabio Lo Monaco and the secretary CGIL Palermo Dario Fazzese. The proceeds were taken from the rider, who was traveling on a scooter and whose vehicle was blocked in an attempt to get away, causing him to fall to the ground. He suffered bruises on his left arm and left leg. The incident occurred between 7pm and 8pm.

“This new episode – declare Brugnone, Lo Monaco and Fazzese – testifies to the degree of social precariousness and security that is now almost absent. The situation of our city is that of an abandoned city where there is no longer the feeling of being protected by the institutions and where there is a risk of encountering violence on the streets. We can no longer continue in this way and we will ask the prefect for a meeting to renew the establishment of a specific crisis table.”
