Sassari, the era of mayor Mascia begins: «At work for the good of the city»

«I proclaim Mr. Giuseppe Mascia elected to the office of mayor of the Municipality of Sassari». With these words pronounced this afternoon in the Council Room of Palazzo Ducale, followed by long applause, the era of mayor Giuseppe Mascia began in Sassari, candidate of the centre-left elected in the first round of the local elections on 8 and 9 June with 31,096 preferences .

The outgoing mayor, Nanni Campus, handed him the tricolor sash, before the ritual speech: «To get here there is a lot of work, which is not just mine. We ran with the idea of giving hope to the city, we will work hard and we will certainly encounter difficult moments, so help us to work well”, said Mascia in his first statements as mayor. “We will seek – he added – the good of anyone who lives in this city, who passes by and to whom we leave it”.

Now the first front opens for Mascia, that of the appointment of the council, which prudently announces that it wants to close in 15 days: «We will work hard this week with political discussions with the groups with which we won the elections, which are already underway . I plan to speed up as much as possible to have the council in two weeks.”

The division of the nine departments will be calibrated on the basis of the votes won by the seven lists of the centre-left coalition, and the Democratic Party, with 20.51% of the preferences and 10 seats in the City Council out of the majority’s 21, should dominate: at least the Dems should go three departments, two places should go to both Avs and the M5s; one each for the Progressives and for Futuro Comune.
