The third edition of PalioAcanestro ended with the victory of the Bear. An edition that brought many enthusiasts and professionals to the Fortezza who chose to spend pleasant evenings around the playing fields from Tuesday to Sunday.
The 2024 edition opened with the women’s Open day which entertained many girls aged 6 to 8. Then the mixed women’s quadrangular which involved the older girls for two days in the fields in the Fortress.
At the actual tournament, many people came to watch the event. Many wore shoes and shorts and took to the pitch, others simply wanted to spend two days in the company of old friends breathing basketball. It was a pleasure to have with us players like Alessandro Cappelletti, Stefano Borsato, Federico Lestini and Lorenzo Saccaggi who stopped by to spend time at PalioAcanestro, and to see Stefano Vidili and Paolo Moretti on the bench.
On the fields, many kids battled in three days of truly heartfelt and hard-fought matches. This year it was the Bear who prevailed, beating the holders of the first two editions, the Rooster, in the final.
The weekend was spent under the banner of PalioAcanestro Opportunity, with the first PACO Tournament in which the 2013 eagles of Costone Siena, Mens Sana, Valdelsa Basket and Virtus Siena participated, won by the yellow-green team, and the 2011 All Star game/ 2012 on Friday.
The seniors instead competed in the 3vs3 won by the local Freschi who qualified for the FIP national finals in Roseto.
And finally the baskin which closed the event with the first triangular in which three mixed teams with the name of the Siena thirds (San Martino, Camollia, Città) faced each other, formed by the players of Costone Siena Baskin and Gea Basketball Grosseto and by three players from the Sienese clubs, Davide Bruttini, Matteo Calvellini and Daniele Marrucci, who took to the pitch together with the baskin boys.

Good participation on all days with many basketball fans and many professionals who stopped by the Fortress. We have received so much appreciation which gives us even more enthusiasm to continue with this beautiful project. We will take advantage of all the feedback received to organize an even more engaging fourth edition.”
