Amadeus’ son reveals some facts about the many Sanremo Festivals hosted by his father: the richest interview ever

As we know Amadeus said hello to his beloved Festival to make room for some other talented host and artistic director. We cannot deny that Amadeus has given a substantial turning point to what seemed like a Festival destined to die: too anchored to the rules of the past, not open to the new and repetitive.

Until a few years ago, if young people watched Sanremo they were branded as ‘démodé’, but today if you don’t watch Sanremo, in the month of February you are almost excluded from any public conversation. Italy stops for that week, work also slows down, everyone is ready to return from work to lock themselves at home on the sofa waiting for the Festival.

What Amadeus has built, even with so much criticism, is a new Sanremo, open to young people, which manages to combine the traditional with the innovative, inviting for the little ones but also for the older ones, and above all it manages to do the most difficult thing: bring Italians together, and put families together on the sofa at home . Added to all this are funny sketches, errors inherent to the live broadcast, gaffes and smiles: a moment of leisure for everyone.

Now it will be a real challenge for Carlo Conti be able to replicate these four years, or even do them better. This time though his son Josè Sebastiani narrated the Amadeus Festivals, who revealed the host’s secrets like no one had ever done.

Amadeus and the Sanremo Festival told by his son Josè Sebastiani

If the artistic director has managed to achieve so many results it is also thanks to the suggestions of his son, always very present in his father’s most important choices. It was he himself who told it, Josè, in an interview on the podcast Il Paese Dei Baroqui, in which he confessed to having bonded with some Sanremo singers, in particular with La Sad, Tananai, Geolier, Sethu and Bnkr 44.

“How long does it take my father to prepare a Sanremo? He ends up with a Sanremo and after a week he starts working with the other one” said Josè, starting to talk about his father’s work of which he is so proud.

Josè Sebastiani talked about his role for the Festival

“He doesn’t just conduct, but he’s also the artistic director, so he works a lot, from listening to the songs, to the script” he continues to explain, then talking about how important his figure was at times.

“I try to support him as best I can. He makes me listen to some songs and I give him some advice. Then the final choice is his” explains Josè with great humility, “Have my advice influenced the choice of songs for his Festivals? I have certainly been influential in some songs both from the past and from this Sanremo.”
