Crescentini defends the WPKO World Championship

Alessio Crescentini confirms his WPKO kick boxing world champion and remains undefeated.

Faccia d’Angelo defended his belt during the match which took place at the roundabout of the Martiri delle Foibe park, better known as Uliveto, in which he faced the Dutch Himad, who was defeated by knockout after just over a recovery.

All this happened during the event “The Best of the Best”, organized by Massimo Brizi’s Ikta Gym, which brought together around 160 fighters, who battled during the two days of competitions, which involved children and girls, starting from the little ones up to athletes who we could define as “seasoned”. Among the disciplines present are kick boxing, both light contact and full contact, K1 and MMA.

On Saturday there was a double station, given that in addition to the ring there was also a cage, dedicated mainly to mixed martial arts.

Athletes came to the city from many regions of Italy, as well as from abroad, with the Netherlands present, as already mentioned, as well as Romania, Morocco, Great Britain with James Turner, Brazil with Thiago Luk and Laecio Nunes, considered athletes of great value.

During the event, the many kids who populate the gyms of the Ikta Gym in Civitavecchia, Tolfa and Santa Marinella also fought. As regards the Civitavecchia section, Roberto Petretti and Enzo Di Pietro, who in recent times have also become particularly well known in the social world, with their pseudo-comic videos that have become popular on Instagram and Tik Tok. Both won: the task was quite simple for Di Pietro, who won his match without too many problems, while Petretti’s scenario was more complicated, as he prevailed in the end, but without having a large advantage.

Returning to the main event, Crescentini managed not to drag out a match that, at a certain point, seemed treacherous. In fact the Dutchman, as he had stated in recent days on his social profiles, started in an aggressive manner and with the clear desire to dominate the match, which he had defined as “a walk in the park”. The first minute takes Crescentini a bit off guard, as he has to deal with the opponent’s boxing blows, which hits his face several times. From the corner Massimo Brizi invites his athlete to have maximum calm and show the right concentration to overcome a difficult moment. In the second part of the first round the champion puts things back in order and keeps his opponent at a distance, while the Uliveto public begins to cheer on the fighter from Civitavecchia, also supported by the many kids who train with him in the gym. In the final part of the first part Himad ends up against the ropes and the feeling is that his certainties are fading. At the beginning of the second round there was an immediate epilogue: Crescentini landed a couple of deadly blows and it didn’t take much to force his opponent to fall to the canvas. The referee carries out the classic count, but, having reached “eight”, we notice that the Dutchman, even though he got back to his feet, is unable to continue the match.

The celebration of the Civitavecchia public unleashed, with Crescentini being awarded by the champion Andrea Rinaldi and by the sports delegate, Matteo Iacomelli. Previously, the councilor for Social Services, Deborah Zacchei, had also attended the awards.

So many people flock to the ringside to rejoice and embrace Crescentini, and this year too the dancing begins with the opening of a large bottle of Prosecco, with all the supporters taking advantage of the opportunity for a toast, also favored by the fact that many flocked to the roundabout at the end of Italy’s football match against Albania.

«It was a difficult match – explains Alessio Crescentini – I must say the Dutchman started as we expected, that is, well-loaded. But we managed to manage the match well, against a very respectable opponent. We somehow managed to keep the belt, with the best result we could achieve, which was a knockout in the second round. The power of the Dutchman’s shots was considerable, so getting all five shots forward became quite challenging. We were forced to increase the intensity immediately, already from the second round, this brought us a good result. I really want to say these words: in the last few days, and I had confirmation of this at the end of the match, there has been great affection from the fans, who have been close to me, starting from my training partners , who give everything when you have to push and allow me to reach maximum performance. There were so many of my friends who came to support me, to shout my name as loudly as possible. Thanks also to those who simply whispered it, I assure you that I heard it. I can only thank them, this evening was important for me, because in addition to this belt, in addition to the victory, the thing I am most proud of is this affection that surrounds me.”
