Boom in tickets sold abroad for the great live shows of Medimex 2024, the International Festival & Music Conference promoted by Puglia Sounds scheduled from 19 to 23 June in Taranto. A packed program of events including concerts, panels, Bob Gruen’s exhibition on John Lennon, presentations, workshops and networking activities, talks and events dedicated to the historic rivalry between great artists.
On Saturday 22 June the live performance of the British musical group The Smile (first date in Italy), on Sunday 23 June Pulp (only Italian date) and The Jesus and Mary Chain (only date in Southern Italy).
The program was presented at a press conference in Taranto in the presence, among others, of the president of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano, the Director of the Tourism and Culture Department of the Puglia Region Aldo Patruno and the artistic coordinator of Medimex/Puglia Sounds Cesare Veronico.
“Every year – explained Veronico – we record good ticket sales abroad but this year, thanks to Pulp’s only Italian date, the number of tickets sold abroad exceeds the record of the countries involved in terms of audience origin. Season tickets and tickets were purchased in 29 countries from the United States to Russia, with almost all European countries, given that this year has never put Taranto at the center of the world.”
Medimex 2024, added Veronico, “looks to the future with an international scope. This year’s program is made up of 75 events and brings together live music, in-depth meetings and cultural initiatives”. “I am particularly happy – he concluded – with the welcome given by professionals and the public to the line up which fulfills the dream of bringing Tom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood to Puglia with The Smile on 22 June and Pulp and The Jesus and Mary Chain on June 23. The second evening has all the requirements to be the positive surprise of the Italian summer”.
