Waste, Lucca launches a comic to raise tourist awareness about separate waste collection

A comic translated into multiple languages to raise awareness among tourists and citizens about waste collection. This is the new initiative on the theme of the environment and urban decoration launched in Lucca thanks to the sensitivity of the Rotary Club of Lucca, Sistema Ambiente and the Municipality.

A further step forward in separate waste collection through an awareness campaign aimed mainly at tourists, visitors and citizens. “Improving the liveability of the area through constant collaboration with citizens, business owners and visitors is the driving force that pushed us with enthusiasm to welcome the awareness campaign proposed by the Rotary Club of Lucca – they claim Sandra Bianchipresident of Sistema Ambiente, e Cristina Consanienvironmental councilor of the Municipality of Lucca – an initiative which, through a comic drawn by David Bigotti, aims to inform tourists in a simple way on the correct disposal of waste both in the historic center and in the suburbs”.

The new campaign mascot is called Gino the pigeon.

“We hope that this tool, pleasant and easy to consult, will contribute to ensuring that the behavior of visitors and tourists who increasingly arrive in Lucca is in keeping with respect for the beauty of the city – say the president of Rotary Lucca Giuseppe Lunardini and the partner Marco Martinelli -. Unfortunately this doesn’t always happen. In addition to this aspect, distribution in schools will have the great effect of increasing the awareness of the younger generations, who are already attentive to the environment and their city. For this we thank the president of Sistema Ambiente Sandra Bianchi, the technical manager Caterina Susini and the municipal administration who offered us this opportunity to make our contribution”.

The comic with the adventures of Gino the pigeon will also be delivered to schools, translated into two languages, with a front and back translated into 4 languages which refers to the Sistema Ambiente spa website. A campaign that will also be taken up by Lucca Crea for the school education project planned by Sistema Ambiente for the next school year.

Bigo, to the century David Bigotti, born in 1976, is a cartoonist from Lucca, son of the imagination of the 80s and the imprinting of Grendizer & Co. He creates his drawings mainly in digital, but also loves to recover the “classical way”, as he does with his works executed entirely in ballpoint pen. Some of these black and white works were published in March 2021 within the volume Twenty of Art Artbook published by Venti D’Arte Edizioni. After 18 years in the nautical industry as an interior designer, during which he always pursued his passion for the ninth art in parallel, his turning point came in 2019 when he created the crazy character The Boson. In 2022 he exhibited 100 “bosonic canvases” in his first solo exhibition, sponsored by the Municipality of Lucca. In 2023 he published the first bosonic adventure, published by Pacini Fazzi Editore, dedicated to the inventors of the internal combustion engine, Barsanti and Matteucci. He is currently working on the second volume, to be released by Lucca Comics & Games 2024, which will feature Giacomo Puccini together with Bosone.
