The Serie B1 championship for the teams from the province of Messina is over. There will therefore be no post-season appendix because the women’s coach Vela Messina is directly saved, by virtue of fourth place, while Filari Tennis, after a complicated year in which it was unable to rejoice even once, is directly relegated to B2 after the last place in their men’s group.
For the girls captained by Gino Visalli, the last day as spectators, the opponent was the Ulivi coach who retired from the championship. On the eve of the seventh matchday the Peloritana team already knew that they would not be able to access the playoffs but if Casale had won 4-0, against Tennis Tolentino, the coach Vela Messina would have had the playouts to play. In the end, however, the Piedmontese team “only” won 3-1. Equal points in the standings between the two teams (9), equal number of matches won (13), therefore the 4-0 scored by Cambria and her teammates last 2 June in the direct clash in Messina weighs heavily, then defined as important now, in light of the outcome of the championship, fundamental.
However, fate has already been sealed for several weeks for Filari Tennis which does not remove the zero from the ranking, but rather goes negative due to the penalties suffered, and finishes in last place in the group which means direct relegation without even passing through the possibility of playing a playoffs. President La Fauci’s team, as he told us, wanted to play a season of transition and growth. Next year he will play in Serie B2.

The Ulivi coach has withdrawn and all the teams have already been awarded the three points.

Nothing to be done for Tennis Filari who are still failing at home on the last day of the year and with reduced staff. Clear defeats for Caratozzolo and Giacobbe in the singles, La Fauci forced to retire after only three games. With the singles heat at 0-3 comes the victory in the home doubles with Giacobbe and Caratozzolo overcoming the opposing pair of Colletti/Brontesi in two sets.
