Carrefour Italy he got the Certification for Gender Equality, issued by the certification body Bureau Veritas, which attests to the company’s commitment to promoting gender equality and creating an inclusive and respectful working environment. The company, become Benefit corporation from 2023 and has long been active in promoting equal opportunities in the workplace, it has successfully met the certification criteria thanks to the policies implemented in recent years.
Specifically, in the performance analysis carried out by Bureau Veritas, the brand was found to be particularly virtuous with regards to the areas linked to corporate culture and strategy, the selection and development processes of human resources and the policies dedicated to parenting.

The policies for new parents, which guarantee support in managing family and work responsibilities, were positively evaluated. Between these, the new parenting policy, which provides double the paid leave compared to the law for the second parent, dedicated psychological support, and an economic integration of the parental leave allowance for three months. Furthermore, the evaluation process certified that the company guarantees maximum respect in the human resources management processes during the recruiting phase, pursuing the gender equality during selection and hiring through the identification of an equal list of male-female candidates, and over the course of the employees’ careers, through continuous training and professional development programs without any gender discrimination.
The brand has also proven to be particularly virtuous with regards to issues related to internal culture, thanks to the promotion of training sessions aimed at all employees, including courses on the use of inclusive language and the identification of incorrect behavior and abuse, which can be reported thanks to a specific procedure, as well as a course mandatory on gender equality for the entire company population. A Steering Committee for Gender Equality has also been established, which has the responsibility of setting objectives and defining the related actions to fill the gaps, as well as periodically reviewing the results obtained.

Implementing gender equality policies, in fact, is a duty and a responsibility to guarantee fairness and respect in the organization but also to have a positive impact in terms of performance”.
