In Trentino – Alto Adige taxes are paid. Or rather, they escape less than elsewhere. Because the two provinces are respectively in the third to last place in the ranking Cgia Mestre on the propensity to evade — measured in terms of amounts evaded per 100 euros of tax revenue collected.
The individual regions
Coming to the percentages, in Bolzano and surrounding areas the tax evasion rate is 7.7%. In Trento and surrounding areas it rises to 8.6%. In the middle, Lombardy with an 8% tax evasion. Just to complete the picture, the national average is 11.2%. At the other end of the scalethe regions where the propensity to evade is greatest are Calabria 18.4%, Campania 17.2%, Puglia at 16.8% and Sicily at 16.5%.
Lombardy leads the way in absolute numbers
If these are the percentage data, in absolute terms, the greatest amount of tax evasion is recorded in the most populous areas, with the most concentrated amount of economic activity. The fact is that Lombardy is the leader with 13.6 billion euros evaded. Followed by Lazio (9.1 billion), Campania (7.8 billion) and Veneto (6.5 billion). According to the Ministry of Economy and Financethe lost revenue in Italy is approximately 83.6 billion euros in total.
The banks
The Tax Office in Italy has 190 databases connected to each other, with data relating to 43.3 million taxpayers. It stores 2.4 billion electronic invoices and 1.3 billion pieces of information on income and bonuses, used for pre-compiled declarations
