There are only two weeks left until what will be a historic moment for Piacenza: the start of a stage of the Tour de France. In 15 days, the city will be literally invaded by fans, tourists and simply curious people, because the Grande Boucle is not just a cycling race but above all it is a unique spectacle. Let’s also make a bet: even the most sceptical, those who today look at the calendar cursing that Monday 1st July when parking will be impossible, circulation will be difficult and a yellow tide will invade the placid streets of Piacenza and its province up to Castel San Giovanni, will be infected by the enthusiasm of the enthusiasts who will flock to our province and will be fascinated by the incredible organizational machine which has no equal in the world (except the Olympics and the football World Cup).

a magazine AS A GIFT TO THE PIACENTINI

Libertà has decided to give a gift to everyone, perplexed Piacentini and curious citizens, faithful and occasional readers, malmostous and enthusiastic, hit-and-run tourists for a day, Italians and why not, foreigners. On Monday 1 July, a simply titled magazine will be combined with the newspaper and with a record circulation “The Tour at Plaisance”a gift (to remain linguistically in the land beyond the Alps) that our editorial group wants to give to the city and to the people of Piacenza, leaving as a gift to those who pass through our province something that will encourage them to return to visit it, perhaps with more calm, tranquility and the right time to admire artistic and naturalistic beauties that are, sometimes too jealously guarded.

UNIQUE COLLECTOR’S NUMBER

A unique and collectible issue, one hundred pages in which you can find content dedicated both to those who want to know more about the race and the strictly sporting side, with curiosities, legends and stories, and to those who want to learn more about the territory and its scenic, cultural and food and wine wonders that the Tour has (fortunately) decided to cross, or rather, even enhance to the point of starting the stage dedicated to the great Fausto Coppi, one of the 7 Italian dominators of the cycling race who angered the French with the their victories.

ONE HUNDRED PAGES of passion

One hundred pages which, for us, are an act of love (and trust) towards the Province of which, rightly or wrongly, we try every day to be a voice that is sometimes critical, sometimes enthusiastic, sometimes even a little romantic . A job that involved the entire company, from Claudio Barbieri, a “borrowed” cycling expert, who coordinated much of the work, right down to all the signatures you will find. From our printers who did an excellent job to best package a product that was almost new to us, to our graphic designers who created a perfect frame for the contents. From the journalists who made themselves available, to the guests (including authorities) who spent time just to be there, it was a team effort which, we hope, can give the people of Piacenza a few hours of good reading and some food for thought for come back to visit us for all the others. What will the cost be? Nothing, after some evaluations we decided to pay homage to him at the cost of the newspaper, because love, in this case for one’s city, is priceless. Or, at least, it shouldn’t have.
