GIULIANOVA. The ASL can put the former marine hospice up for sale, a structure which until recently hosted the basic health district which has now been moved to the Bellocchio crossroads RSA. This was decreed by a resolution of the regional council, following a proposal from the health councilor Nicoletta Verì took note of the provision of the health company with which the classification of the property as an asset available for sale was requested. The former marine hospice, as it is no longer used by the local health authority, may therefore end up for sale.
»The general director of the health company had already announced it Maurizio Di Giosia during the press conference a month ago at the Bellocchio RSA”, specifies the mayor Jwan Costantini, “and now the plan comes to fruition.” The health district, the Red Cross and various offices were located in the former hospice and were transferred to the RSA at Bivio Bellocchio, renovated thanks to the works financed with 3.5 million by the Region. For the reuse of the former hospital in Viale dello Splendore, however, we will have to wait. This structure, abandoned since the 1970s, will also soon be put up for sale and is certainly not a nice sight for the numerous tourists and citizens who reach the sanctuary every day, especially in this period. In the 1960s an additional body was built to the west of the main building, which has three floors in reinforced concrete and brick, but in the 1970s the premises of the former Capuchin convent were abandoned and the hospital was moved to via Gramsci. Both the landscape restriction and the historical restriction apply to the former marine hospice, but also to the former hospital in Giulianova Paese, but both could change their intended use.
Costantini already announced a few months ago that the two properties, through a change of use (if the new owners requested it), could be transformed into accommodation facilities. The proceeds deriving from the sale of the two healthcare buildings, owned by the Local Health Authority, should be reinvested, as per agreements with the Municipality, on the maintenance of the current hospital in via Gramsci. The latter, in fact, needs urgent interventions, especially in the structural part. And in the meantime, the RSA at the Bellocchio crossroads has been operational for a few months with 25 beds dedicated to Alzheimer’s patients, as well as various offices and clinics in the basic healthcare district.
