De Silva in Salerno Literature: “The best questions are those that do not require an answer”

Diego De Silva in Salerno Literature. The famous writer, journalist and screenwriter focused on “The impossible answers”. During the meeting, which lasted about forty minutes, De Silva ironically exposed his personal vision on “asking the right questions”, the main theme of this year’s festival, believing that “the best questions are actually those that do not involve an answer”. In fact, according to the writer “life is inexplicable, incomprehensible” and it is precisely for this reason that, for example, the human being has created the image of God, a support figure who possesses all the answers of the entire creation but who he keeps them only to himself, because “what kind of God would he be – highlights De Silvia – the one who would give me all the answers?”. However, according to the writer, it is precisely from the need to “give words to things” and from the discomfort of finding oneself in this reality, which he defines as ridiculous, “without a real meaning”, that the need to write and create literature arises: in fact, through literature the human being tries in vain to reach what is unattainable, what he would like to be and have, seeking definitions for the things that happen to him.
