Frost. These are rather hectic hours for the two coalitions that will compete in the run-off for Palazzo di Città next week. The engineer Grazia Cosentino and the broad moderate-centre-right pact are obtaining a sort of step back from those who left that political bloc, who are gradually returning to the ranks, almost as if to distance themselves from the “Alliance for Gela” project, which is more linked to the territory and with a civic approach. Terenziano Di Stefano and his allies instead received the support of Filippo Franzone and the group that supports him. Di Stefano fully adhered to the three points on the programmatic level: transition to the metropolitan city of Catania, strengthening of the local health system and initiatives to overcome the water crisis and make the dams for the agricultural sector more efficient. A general agreement seems possible with Miguel Donegani’s “PeR” laboratory, which today brought together his members, explaining generically that they will also be “protagonists in the runoff”. Di Stefano’s entourage, like Cosentino’s, is at work. Certainly, on the progressive front, the M5s group, which supports Di Stefano, is moving. “We are working – says the Grillino regional coordinator Nuccio Di Paola – I am very happy with the agreement with Franzone. There is a convergence on the programmatic points that he presented. We want to make a great appeal to the city and to the voters, so that this city is not handed over to Totò Cuffaro. It is a risk, because the city would end up in the hands of Cuffaro, effectively becoming just a colony of many other cities. The people of Gela don’t deserve it. We are working to ensure that there is as much convergence as possible on Terenziano Di Stefano and on a relaunch project that comes directly from the territory, without external interference”.
