Georges-Louis Bouchez, president of the French-speaking liberal party MR, expressed hope that sister party Open VLD will bounce back following the example of his MR. According to Bouchez, VRT says, if Open VLD had followed the line of former president Egbert Lachaert, it would now be the third largest party in Flanders. Criticizing Open VLD’s previous line, Bouchez argued that a liberal party with a progressive orientation on cultural issues and a right-wing on economic issues has no place in Flanders, where he instead proposes a right-wing political course both culturally and economically.

Bouchez defended Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, arguing that he handled his seven-party compromise role well, despite criticism of De Croo and his party, Open VLD.

Furthermore, the MR leader responded to criticism from Vooruit’s colleague, Melissa Depraetere, who called him “completely unreliable”, accusing the Vooruit leader of struggling with the right’s victory in the elections. Furthermore, Bouchez challenged Vooruit to explain to voters whether they intend to block everything and whether they want to include the PS in the process.

Finally, he criticized Conner Rousseau for his statements on Vooruit’s difficulty in entering a federal government, underlining that the parliamentarian is still new to the presidency and yet already criticizing the process.
