17-year-old Michelle Causo was killed, the parents’ anger: “Our daughter’s killer uses social media from prison and controls her friends”

There is no peace for the parents of Michelle Causo, the 17-year-old found dead in a shopping cart last June 28 in Primavalle, Rome. According to what was reported by Gianluca and Daniela Causo – the girl’s parents – in an interview at‘Adnkronos, the young man accused of the murder would have created social media accounts directly from prison to monitor the profiles of the friends of the girl brutally killed in Rome last year. The parents expressed dismay at the situation, highlighting that the reports made to the Treviso prison, where the young man is currently detained, would have remained unheeded. «What does our daughter’s killer do in prison? A computer course, he is the one who has been accused of trying to extort money from the girls, threatening them with artfully retouched photos”, declare the parents, harshly criticizing the management and supervision of the activities allowed to the prisoner.

Reports from friends

The family also revealed that they had received direct reports from Michelle’s friends regarding the presence of a social profile attributable to the young man, using an alias but with a clearly recognizable photo. The 17-year-old’s father reported the matter to the prison. “Reports have fallen on deaf ears,” he denounces. «Over time, according to what we were told, he contacted other friends, or at least, those who he believed were friends of him but who naturally turned their backs on him after the events. He wrote to dozens of people. But is it something that can be done?”, continues the victim’s father.

The lawyer’s response: “I can neither confirm nor deny”

Aldo Di Giacomo, general secretary of the S.Pp., clarified that access to social media is not authorized within the penal institution for minors in Treviso, adding that the union will request checks regarding the accusations made by the parents of Michelle. «It’s not possible to suffer this humiliation after they kill your daughter like that. We ask that justice does its duty and does not grant the alleged perpetrator the privilege of monitoring the social profiles of people linked to his victim”, comments the mother. The lawyer of the young accused, Daniele Meles, contacted by Adnkronos, declared that he could neither confirm nor deny the accusations, specifying that it does not appear that his client has access to a computer. «But I could also be wrong», he specifies.
