CATANIA – Controls on nightlife: also this weekend the police forces carried out specific services to control public order and safety in the central areas. Overall, 54 people were identified by the State Police, 4 of whom had criminal records, and 30 vehicles were checked.
The disco at the Playa
A nightclub in the Playa area was checked by the specialists of the Administrative Police of the Police Headquarters. The owner, we read in a press release, presented a technical report for the usability of facilities with a capacity of less than 200 people while during the evening 450 were found dancing.
In the same room the police also discovered 150 people who danced on a stage not intended for a dance area. Furthermore, no fire extinguishers were installed. The woman was reported in a state of freedom and sanctioned because she did not have authorization for a public entertainment license and did not have the administrative SCIA for the management of the bar with a fine of 5000 euros.
Finally, the investigations on the bouncers allowed the police to identify 2 people not registered in the prefectural register, for whom a fine of 1666 euros each was imposed.
The controls in the centre
In the area of Piazza Federico di Svevia and in the surrounding areas Carabinieri crews operated. 37 people including nightlife users and road users and 23 vehicles were checked. Furthermore, 15 complaints were found with a total amount of 800 euros against motorists who had parked their cars illegally in front of the Ursino Castle.
In addition, 6 checks were carried out to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol, no driver was found driving while intoxicated, and 6 personal searches were carried out to search for drugs. A 24-year-old from Catania, found with 2 grams of marijuana and cigarette papers on him, was reported to the Prefecture as a user.
