TERNI Anthony Strong and the Colors Jazz Orchestra with the direction of Massimo Morganti they will give life to a truly engaging concert with immortal songs ranging from Cole Porter to Frank Sinistra. The appointment is for Wednesday, June 19th, at 9pm, at the Roman amphitheater of Terni, yet another very particular “pearl” of Silvia Alunni and its review Visioninmusica which in this case has the support of Charity Foundation.

THE CONCERT

“With his well-fitted tuxedo and his sober charm – we read in the concert presentation note – the pianist and singer Anthony Strong is a true English gentleman. His vocalism and style on the piano are combined with an engaging energy that has won over audiences in every concert he has performed around the world. Upon signing with the famous record label Naïve Records in 2013, Strong was considered an exceptional emerging talent by the Anglo-Saxon media. Anthony Strong trained at three of England’s leading music schools, starting with classical music and then moving on to jazz. His early passion for Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly then led him to Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme and Nat King Cole: singing was the logical consequence. An unexpected job offer, as Jerry Lee Lewis’s replacement in a musical in London’s West End, allowed him to develop a strong aptitude for the stage.
His album, Stepping Out, reached number one on the US iTunes Jazz chart. To date, Anthony Strong has performed in 26 countries on 4 continents, in prestigious contexts such as the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, the French Jazz in Marciac festival, the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and the Litchfield Festival in the United States. The Colors Jazz Orchestra was born in 2002 from an idea by Massimo Morganti, trombonist, composer and director. With the aim of proposing contemporary and innovative sounds, the orchestra’s repertoire immediately focused on the music of Maria Schneider, a young American composer and reference figure on the New York music scene, student of Bob Brookmeyer and assistant of Gil Evans . Then the repertoire – concludes the presentation – was enriched with the compositions of Kenny Wheeler, with whom the orchestra has collaborated steadily since 2003. In June 2009 the first important studio work Nineteen plus one with Kenny Wheeler as soloist and composer. A record that received great critical success in Italy and abroad.”
