New life for the cycle-pedestrian bridge in the Cedri park. The passage connecting Bologna to San Lazzaro above the Savena river has been reopened since 13 June. The bridge had been in disrepair for some time and had required a series of interventions. Starting from the beginning of 2024 it was demolished and rebuilt by the Municipality of Bologna for a total cost of approximately 600 thousand euros.
To fix the passage, the two administrations had stipulated an agreement at the beginning of last year, but after months the work had not yet started: so much so that the bridge had become a political issue and became the subject of discussion in the municipal council of Palazzo d’Accursio . Already in 2015 the passage had to undergo a redevelopment site. Built in 1995, the Ponte dei Cedri takes its name from the park of the same name and is an important connection for those traveling by bicycle between the city and San Lazzaro.
In the coming weeks, Palazzo d’Accursio says, the official inauguration will be held after the completion of some finishing works. Once the work is completed, the ball will pass to San Lazzaro, which is required to provide for the ordinary maintenance of the bridge until the end of the agreement, which lasts 12 years.
