Lamezia, a citizen’s report: “Dilapidated building, dangers and degradation in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore”

Lamezia Terme – The dilapidated building in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore worries the inhabitants of the area. In particular, a citizen of Lamezia who lives in Brussels and often comes to his home near Piazza Mazzini says that after the death of his mother “I was sincerely determined to sell but I thought better of it because the places where I spent my childhood are an input positive for old age”.

And he points out a problem “that looms next to my home and, I believe, to all the citizens who live in the historic square called Santa Maria Maggiore, which is now the subject of degradation, neglect, fires and dangers day after day, often at night, despite the continuous and repeated complaints to the competent authorities”.

The dilapidated building highlights the fact that the citizen is a “receptacle for homeless people”, becoming an area of decay, neglect and dirt in the center of one of the most central squares in the city. Finally, the gentleman draws attention: “to the dangers that loom from the adjacent building” and appeals to the competent authorities “to make every effort to demolish the dilapidated ones or at least make them safe to revive the square in a decent way with essential services such as the cleaning of the square, the collection of rubbish, the control”.
