«Taranto excluded from access to resources for the redevelopment of kindergartens? Nothing could be more misleading. Contrary to what is being made to believe following the dissemination of partial information which does not reflect reality, the Municipality of Taranto has already fully and firmly supported the PNRR funding already earmarked for interventions at sites hosting nursery schools”.

This is what we read in a note released by Palazzo di città.

«In support of this statement – continues the note – it should be highlighted that interventions are underway for the refunctionalisation of three new existing nursery schools relating to the Monaco Complex (in Talsano) and the Pastore Complex (in the Paolo VI neighbourhood) which will guarantee , once operational, additional places, up to a maximum of 120, for children aged between 0 and 3 years.

To these will be added within the next year a further nursery school which will be built within the new market area of the Paolo VI District falling within PINQUA financing with PNRR funds. A work that will allow the new places available to families in Taranto to increase to a total of 180.

The kindergartens in question will become operational by 2025, although there is an excellent possibility that the Pastore Complex could be operational as early as this year.

In light of the above, it appears clear that the objectives that the new tender intends to pursue have already been achieved with the redevelopment and construction of the four structures indicated.

It remains understood that the needs and emergencies related to the maintenance of municipal school buildings are not to be considered resolved and this is why the Administration led by Mayor Rinaldo Melucci has taken it upon itself to contact the Ministry of Education and Merit to evaluate the “opportunity to undertake initiatives and solutions capable of supporting municipal activity with the further provision of specific funding to support the school”.
