Piacenza and Emilia-Romagna are preparing to welcome the Tour de France, the most important cycling competition in the world which, for the first time in its history, has chosen Italy for the Grand Départ Florence Emilie-Romagna, from 29 June to July 1st. There are three Emilia-Romagna stages of the Grande Boucle: Florence-Rimini, Cesenatico-Bologna and Piacenza-Turin for over 600 kilometers of route.

The. will start from our city stage of July 1st, 230 kilometers along a mostly flat route, which includes the passage through Tortona in memory of Fausto Coppi, the crossing of the Langhe, and, finally, some of the roads already traveled by the Milan-Sanremo. The program includes the departure of the long advertising caravan at 9.15, followed by that of the cyclists at 11.15; the route will start from viale Malta to then cross, in a sort of walkway, the city center passing along Via Venturini, Stradone Farnese, Via Giordani, Piazza Sant’Antonino, Via Sant’Antonino, Largo Battisti, Piazza Cavalli, Via XX Settembre, Piazza Duomo, Via Romagnosi, via Cavour, viale Risorgimento, piazzale Milano, via XXI Aprile, piazzale Torino, via Emilia Pavese up to the Trebbia bridge in San Nicolò di Rottofreno, where the cyclists will begin the competitive race. The athletes will then continue along the Via Emilia and then head towards Turin. (THE MAP)

Important changes to the city’s traffic system, starting from Saturday 29 June. The invitation – addressed by the municipal administration – is to move on foot or by bike on 1 July in the areas of the city most involved in the event, to enter into the spirit of the Tour and not run the risk of being involved in the probable slowdowns traffic.
