Bolzano: in defense there is the confirmation of Enrico Improvenzi

HCB Alto Adige Alperia officially announces that it has reached an agreement for the renewal of the defender’s contract Enrico Miglioranzi for the 2024/25 season. The Italian defender will be in his fifth season with the Bolzano shirt, the third in a row.

Last March 5, during Game 2 of the playoff quarter-finals against Villach, the 32-year-old from Veneto suffered a serious knee injury due to an unfortunate clash, which had put an early end to his season. After the surgery, Miglioranzi immediately began rehabilitation, which is continuing at full speed thanks to the support of the Foxes’ medical, physiotherapy and athletic staff, and is carrying out daily at the Sparkasse Arena gym. The defender’s goal is to return to coach Glen Hanlon’s full disposal in the weeks following the start of the championship.

In the last two seasons Miglioranzi, who already has 190 appearances for the red and white, has proven to be a highly reliable full-back, always closing his +/- balance positively (the third best of the regular season and the second best of the playoffs in the 2022 season /23) and scoring a total of 21 points.

The carreer

Miglioranzi grew up in Asiago’s youth team, making his debut in the first team at just 16 years old. The following seasons he played all in Serie A with the star-studded shirt, and then moved to Bolzano in 2013, winning the first EBEL with the Foxes. The following year, after playing five more games in Bolzano, he returned to the plateau, where he spent the rest of his career (with the exception of 12 games played with Kallinge, in the third Swedish league): with Asiago, a team of which he wore both the C of captain and the A of assistant, won seven Scudetti, three Italian Super Cups and two Alps Hockey League. For years he has also been part of the Italian national team, with which he played three Top Division World Cups and one Division I Group A World Cup.

“It was certainly tough having to watch most of the playoffs from the stands – explains Miglioranzi – but what happened is now part of the past. I’m happy to be able to look to the future while still being able to wear the red and white shirt: I’m working hard to be ready as soon as possible and the rehabilitation is progressing well. Next year we will start with the same goal as always, that of getting to the end: in the last two years this group has acquired great experience, we have a quality roster and we know what our potential is.”
