A body was found at dawn on Sunday 16 June in the sea inside the breakwater between piers III and IV of the Porto Franco Vecchio. The Coast Guard of Trieste specifies that it is a male corpse and that, given the location of the discovery, it is presumed that it could be the body of the young man missing at sea since June 11th.
The report was received by the Port Authority through the Canottieri Adria company whose operators were engaged in training activities. Immediately sent to the scene, a Coast Guard lookout recovered the body which was subsequently transshipped to the quay overlooking the headquarters of the Port Authority. Normal investigations will follow to ascertain the identity of the body.
The missing young man
The boy, a Venetian-year-old of Moroccan origin, was in the abandoned spaces of the ancient port together with a group of compatriots. He was on the pier at a party or drinking with some friends when he, drunk, fell into the sea. The alarm was raised around 4am on Tuesday 11 June. Since then, the fire brigade’s dive unit and the harbor master’s office have searched for him tirelessly.
