«Trani dedicate a toponym to Cosmano»: Lamia Caputo’s son officially requests it

«Please consider the possibility of naming a street in our city after Giacomo Cosmano, the player who made 254 appearances (second of all time) and scored the most goals (101) in the history of the glorious Polisportiva Trani». This was written by Dr. Vito (Sandro) Lamia Caputo, son of the great goalkeeper Mimmo, teammate of the same attacker, in a request registered to the municipal toponymy commission.

«With his magic Cosmano contributed to the promotion to Serie B in the unforgettable 1963/64 season – Lamia Caputo recalls -. Subsequently, he continued to divide his time heroically between his work as a railway worker and his exploits with the Polisportiva shirt. The goal in the derby against Bari is still engraved in the collective memory, thanks to which Trani was saved (in its first year in Serie B) and the team from the capital was relegated to Serie C.”

Given these premises, «the naming of a street after this legendary character, with great human qualities, who made generations of Trani dream and gave prestige to our city, is an absolutely necessary act. The city of Foggia dedicated a street to him several years ago.”

To strengthen this perspective, the beautiful words spoken by Cosmano’s son a few weeks ago, in Trani, on the occasion of the beautiful public event organized by the Tranensis association in memory of the sixtieth anniversary of Trani’s promotion to Serie B: «I live with my family in Foggia, but Traini has remained in our hearts and I confess my emotion in seeing so much affection reserved for that team and my father”.
