Il Tirreno dies at the age of 58

GROSSETO. The resuscitation maneuvers were frenetic and lasted for a few tens of minutes: first by those who had arrived on the shoreline, then by the 118 staff. But for her, a 58-year-old tourist from the province of Arezzo, no there was nothing to be done.

She died like this, probably due to an illness, yesterday afternoon, shortly after 3pm. The episode occurred on the beach between Marina di Grosseto and Castiglione della Pescaia, near the Marze fort. Here the woman was seen by some bathers while she was lying on the ground, with her face in the water. No time was wasted and whoever was there at the time provided first aid. In the meantime, the alarm was given to 118: the Pegaso air ambulance was engaged in another rescue and was unable to intervene. The rescuers (the medical vehicle and an ambulance from the Grosseto Red Cross) arrived from the ground, from the Collacchie road: they left the vehicles until the point where the road allowed them to do so, then they covered the rest of the journey on foot, trying to arrive as soon as possible.

The woman had been taken a certain distance from the shoreline, a few meters away, and here she had been given first aid. Cardiac massage was underway, then the resuscitation maneuvers were continued by the rescuers. It seems that shortly afterwards the husband arrived, alarmed because the woman had moved away and had not returned to the point where they had decided to spend the day at the beach. It also appears that the woman had left for a walk. And just as she was walking along the seashore she was struck by an illness, which made her fall to the ground. Perhaps she had entered the water for a certain distance, perhaps she had just entered it.

The soldiers from the Marina di Grosseto port authority also arrived on the beach and took care of the tasks following the death. The body was transported to the Grosseto morgue at the disposal of the judiciary, which will decide on any investigations once it has received the report from the coast guard.
