Marco Birolini presents ‘Rogue State’ in Marsala

The 2024 edition of “Bites & Sips of books” is backthe cultural and literary event promoted in Porta Nuova by ‘bites & sips… of Sicily’ and Lillo Gesone with Libera Marsala “Vito Pipitone” club, Mondadori bookshop and “Il Rumore delle idee”. Five meetings in which the authoritative voices of investigative television journalism, politics and Italian current affairs present their latest editorial works.

After the first two meetings with the journalist from Reports Siegfried Ranucci and the writer Pino Aprile, Monday 17 June, at 6 pm, it will be the turn of Marco Birolini whowith his ‘Rogue State’ (published by Ponte delle Grazie), investigates the most murky aspects of the modern ‘big game’: drug trafficking, too big a deal with too much money at stake, too many international exchanges, too many interests, too many crossovers with other underground markets, in first and foremost that of weapons. And they are not just folkloristic narcos hidden in the jungle and mafiosi with caps and luparas. An in-depth research work that retraces the documentation produced in recent decades by magistrates and parliamentary commissions, decades in which our country, and Sicily in particular, found itself at the center of the global drug trade.

Dialogue with Birolini was the journalist Rino Giacalone; present the Hon. Antonello Cracolici, President of the Regional Anti-Mafia Commission. Sponsor of the initiative: Cantine Fina, Assud Mediterranean Cuisine, Castellinarea, ABR Teloni di Antonino Bruno Rallo, Baglio Diar. Media partners: itacanotizie.it, Marsala C’è and Marsala Live.
