The push and pull for the clause between Toro and Venezia is taking longer. The stasis is also reflected in a market that is still at a standstill
“We’ll have the coach soon, I’d say we’re there”. These are the words used by Urbano Cairo to explain the situation regarding the imminent signing of Ivan Juric’s successor. The name is always the same, that of Paolo Vanolieven if the Granata president wanted to leave a veil of mystery “Are there any missteps for Vanoli? I didn’t say who it will be, I say that there are steps forward in general”.
Venezia doesn’t let go
As far as Cairo says, everything has been pointing towards the signature of the Venezia coach for days. Vanoli is in fact still under contract with the lagoon players until 30 June 2026 and to free him from this constraint it is now known that the company led by Niederauer requires the entire payment of the one million euro clause. Torino tried to bring water to their mill, trying to convince Venezia to reduce their demands, effectively halving them also through the inclusion of technical matches. Venezia has no intention of meeting the Granata and this is confirmed by the words of the sporting director of the lagoon Filippo Antonelli: “Torino is trying to make a negotiation, but there is no need to make a negotiation. It’s a clause.”
Vanoli stall… and on the market
Venezia’s position is therefore clear, like that of Turin. The Granata have reached an agreement with Vanoli some time ago, but they do not want to comply with the legitimate demands of the newly promoted club in Serie A. Misunderstandings between the two clubs have triggered a push and pull which now risks having repercussions on the construction of the Torino team to come, ahead of next season. The sooner the coach arrives, the sooner you can plan and make choices, especially in the market place. Apart from the players whose contract expires and those who will return to their clubs when their loans expire, Torino will probably have to make some strong exit moves. Not only for requests to the big names, see Buongiorno and Bellanova, but also to try to get back into investments that risk proving to be inadequate, see Ilic. Everything will then influence the incoming market. Toro will certainly have to act quickly in defense, a department that will be emptied on June 30th, then they will try to shore up the rest of the squad. One thing at a time: coach first. Even if the wait risks, at the same time, keeping the market at a standstill.
