The marble corkscrew in Piazza Alberica was damaged

Not even two hours after the inauguration of the White Carrara on Saturday afternoon, a sculpture in Piazza Alberica has already been damaged. This is the marble reproduction of the Anna G. corkscrew by Alessi, which now has broken handles. A unique piece in veined statuary marble created by Sagevan in 2014, a tribute to Alessi on the occasion of the twentieth birthday of the corkscrew designed by Alessandro Mendini in 1994. The first handle was damaged by a child a few hours after the inauguration of the event. The child apparently moved away from his parents and broke off a part of the marble, probably in an attempt to understand how to lift one of the two external handles, which can be raised just like a real corkscrew. But the child’s curiosity caused his arm to break in front of numerous witnesses. The second handle would instead be a real act of vandalism carried out in the night between Friday and Saturday by someone unknown, who would have broken it for pure fun. And now the hunt is on to find the person responsible. The municipal police officers under the command of Commander Paola Micheletti have already acquired footage from the various video surveillance cameras in Piazza Alberica in the hope of identifying the vandal or vandals.
