Ilaria Salis has returned home. Yesterday at 7.17pm, accompanied by her father Roberto, she reached her parents’ residence in Monza, her hometown, after a long car journey that left Budapest at 6 in the morning. Emotion in her face, opened by a long smile which represents, if not the definitive exit from the “very deep pit” into which she said she had fallen in the Hungarian prison, at least a liberation. After her election to the European Parliament, judge Jozsef Sos immediately granted her immunity and suspended the trial against her, resulting in the removal of the electronic bracelet she had had since May 23, when she left prison for go to house arrest. “She is very tired and worn out – said her father after getting out of the car just parked in the courtyard of the house, while the street around him was clogged with journalists – it was a long, tiring journey, lasting more than 9 hours. And she is proven by the very intense period of imprisonment in Hungary.” Ilaria, due to her extremely tired condition, preferred to go straight home and not stay with the journalists.
