“A shuttle for workers”

Convene a table between the municipal administration and company top management to verify the feasibility of activating a shuttle service connecting Vigevano to Trecate (Novara), the company’s new location. This is the proposal launched by the civic group “Vigevano Prima di tutto” following the communication from Isem, the Vigevano company specializing in luxury packaging, that it wanted to move the factory to the nearby Novara area.

A decision motivated solely by the need for new spaces, considering that the business has recorded exponential growth in recent years. Unlike the cases of Moreschi and Fiscatech, this is not a situation that puts the 350 jobs at risk but “only” a move about twenty kilometers from the ducal city.

“However, this is a situation that will generate inconvenience among employees – observes Piero Marco Pizzi, spokesperson for the civic group – Inconveniences which could be avoided by organizing a shuttle service that connects one or more points of the city with the new Isem factory, all the working days with hours adapted to the needs of the staff – continues Pizzi – could be shared by the Municipality, company and employees in order to make it sustainable, thus offering users a service at controlled prices, decidedly more advantageous than the use of private vehicles. Such a solution would allow employees to move more safely and comfortably, would have benefits for mobility and the environment and would demonstrate the company’s social responsibility as well as the sensitivity of the Municipality”.

“The feasibility study – concludes Pizzi – should consider working hours, traffic, roads, possible interchange points and the number of journeys. For our part, we make ourselves available to participate in a possible meeting, trusting in the desire to dialogue of all interested parties”.
