Nine people were arrested by the police as part of a vast operation across the country to combat online child pornography, coordinated by the Catania district attorney’s office. A major investigation in which a man from Prato was involved who is under investigation. The man underwent searches and seizures yesterday.
The investigation, conducted by the cyber security operations center of the Catania postal police, made it possible to investigate 26 people in various regions for possession and dissemination of child pornography material, subjected to personal and computer searches. Thousands of files, exchanges of horrifying images and videos were seized, with even very young children being abused.
The investigations, coordinated by the national center for combating online child pornography (Cncpo), began with a complex IT analysis activity on some electronic devices seized from a suspect, arrested months ago for the same conduct, on which – within of a messaging platform – groups had been found dedicated to exchanging gruesome images and videos, with abuse even of very young children. Meticulous and complex investigations, including those of a technical nature, led to the identification of the individuals active in the groups, against whom the Catania prosecutor’s office issued personal and computer search orders. One of those arrested, in addition to thousands of child pornography files, had the digital format of the book “Pedophile’s Guide” in his cloud. The seized material is being examined by the prosecutor’s office and the postal police for further investigative investigations also useful for the identification of the young victims.
