Lido di Camaiore (Lucca), 15 June 2024 – Il Kama he loves you(goes). And it did it again this evening despite the fact that it has been closed since 2012, when a fire devastated what had been one of the most trendy nightclubs on the national scene between the 1990s and 2000s. On the seashore of Versilia in the park of the former Bussoladomani – the temple-tent of music created by Sergio Bernardini – the revival of Kama Kama took place, the disco that far from the coast made people dance in Capezzano, in the hinterland of Viareggio, those who today have (abundantly) surpassed the anta.
The Kama Kama – or more simply the Kama – was a cutting-edge club where since 1990 it was possible to listen to first house music, electronics And post-punk imported from the United States and England. Underground club par excellence: little communication, outside the mainstream circuits, but great following both by the public and the DJ circuit.
And just some of these DJs (Davide Benedetti, Stefano D’Andrea, Francesco Farfa, DJ Ralf And Mario Scalambrin) lit up the ‘Prima Estate’ of Lido di Camaiore, organized by D’Alessandro&Galli, proposing the best of house and alternative music. For a heterogeneous audience made up of parents (yesterday’s arsonists, today firefighters) and children who know little or nothing about that music and that epic.
The revival began at 6pm with DJ Davide Benedetti and continued until well after midnight with Mario Scalambrin closing the evening-event with the Bussoladomani park which gradually filled up as the hours passed and darkness fell , so dear to the Kama Kama underground.
The environment certainly couldn’t be the same, but the music ended up being the same make those who once wore Roberto Baggio style pigtails dance and today he is visibly older. Looking at the audience, then, there weren’t the transgressive and exaggerated looks that characterized the long nights of Kama, but the desire to have fun was not lacking. A dive into the past for a ‘First Summer’ which also looks at the music of today and tomorrow.
