The ATM of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank in Bitonto, in the Bari area, was attacked. The thieves, at least five, fled in a gray car after detonating the automatic banknote dispenser. The loot? Around 50 thousand euros.

To facilitate their escape, the criminals scattered three-pointed nails along the road, making it difficult for the police to intervene. The explosion severely damaged the ATM area and the bank’s interior, waking up and frightening residents of the neighborhood.

The police are investigating, examining the findings on the spot and the images of the surveillance cameras in the area to identify those responsible. According to initial hypotheses, the thieves would have used a specific explosive, now sadly known for its effectiveness against ATMs.

The episode has caused great concern among citizens and the mayor of Bitonto has asked for an increase in security measures and night surveillance. The local community is still shaken and is asking the authorities for decisive action to prevent future attacks.

Unfortunately, in the Bari area this is not an isolated case. The security of banks and ATMs is an increasingly urgent issue. The police invite citizens to collaborate by providing any useful information to solve the case.
