Showers on the beach, drinking water guidelines defined

After the entry into force of Legislative Decree 18 of 2023, which implements a European standard, the Region and the Local Health Authority have defined the guidelines onuse of water from wells for showers on the beach and, more generally, in the bathing facilities.

Moreover, with the legislative decree on the use of water for human activities, theuse of drinking watercompared to many establishments that use non-potable showers.

Ultimately, as decided in the guidelines, a share will have to run on potable water, i.e at least two cold showers and one hot shower for every 100 umbrellas and shadow points or for every fraction of fifty. The showers and foot washes in addition to this essential equipment, however, may also use non-potable water. It will be fundamental to indicate with a sign and that the water comes from wells regularly reported and registered by the Region.

In this sense, the establishments will have to carry out self-monitoring activities at least once a month prior to the opening of the facility and compliance with the parameters identified by the Region must be integrated with a legionella risk and assessment plan.
