The first stage of the Italian Cup of the Roller Ski circuit 2024, called 1st Fundacija Trophy – Zdravko KosutaUNDACIJA Foundation, started today in Samatorza, a hamlet of the municipality of Sgonico, a 200m sprint race in free technique which offered spectators a day of exciting competitions.
This year too the competition was organized by ASD Mladina and directed by president Peter Sedmark.
As many as 113 athletes from different categories took the start, confirming once again the importance of this event in the panorama of summer winter sports.
The winners of the main category, “Young and Senior”, were Alba Mortagna and Emanuele Becchis.
The young-senior women’s race saw an exciting reversal compared to the previous year, with a brilliant Alba Mortagna (Valdobbiadene) overtaking Lisa Bolzan (SC Orsago), pioneer of this discipline and winner of last edition, to take first place. Laura Mortagna (Valdobbiadene) and Chiara Agostinetto (Valdobbiadene) completed the podium, fifth place for Maria Invernizzi.
Emanuele Becchis (Entracque Alpi Marittime), in the men’s category, successfully defended his title, proving once again to be the fastest by prevailing over Michele Valerio (US Carisolo), while Alessio Berlanda (Team Futura) and Alessandro Corradi (Valdobbiadene) they occupied third and fourth place respectively, fifth place for Matteo Tanel (Robinson Ski Team).
As for the younger ones, in the Children category we see the female triumph for the Finnish Rohila Anni with a convincing performance over Maddalena Pavan (Valdobbiadene), followed by Tinkara Sitar (Slovenia) in third place. Among the men, Jaka Berdajs (Slovenia) dominated the race, Federico Sartori (SC Ledrense ASD) and Leonardo Sonego (SC Orsago) completed the podium in second and third place.
Among the chicks, Hana Kuralt (Slovenia) won in the female category and Ian Tretiach (SS Mladina).
A mass start in free technique is scheduled for Sunday morning, valid as the 2nd Italian Roller Ski Cup race called 1st SAVI Trophy.
