After the decision to transfer the “Maestrale” trial from the Bunker courtroom of the Court of Vibo Valentia to that of Lamezia Terme, the lawyers rebelled.
VIBO VALENTIA – As anticipated in recent days, the “Francesco Casuscelli” Criminal Chamber of Vibo Valentia, in relation to the decision to transfer the celebration of the “Maestrale” trial from the Bunker Hall of the new Court of Vibo Valentia to the Bunker Hall of Lamezia Terme , following the specially called Assembly, resolved the state of agitation of the Vibo criminal lawyers.
During the Assembly on Friday afternoon it was also decided to call a public meeting of the entire category, involving the Council of the Bar Association, inviting institutional representatives and the criminal chambers of the entire region.

It was decided to also involve politics which «cannot remain silent on these issues which not only involve professionals but an entire community which, even in this sector, is increasingly deprived of essential services», stated President Pino Aloi on behalf of the body, reiterating that the problem «is also political and politics must assume its responsibilities. It is unthinkable – he added – that such decisions are adopted without involving the category most interested in the matter, especially after the Board, in its previous composition, had issued an order with which it had established the celebration of the trial in the bunker courtroom of Vibo Valentia overcoming the resistance of the DDA prosecutor who insisted on the transfer to Lamezia Terme”.
The assembly also highlighted that other DDA trials are currently being held in Vibo. «Abstractly with the same public order issues that would have been the basis of the decision taken, while some hearings of the Rinascita Scott trial, with many more defendants, were regularly held in Vibo without problems of any kind. As criminal lawyers, therefore, we can no longer remain silent. We cannot fail to denounce a real limitation to the rights of defense that derive from decisions taken essentially to the detriment of citizens”, concluded Aloi.
