Two thousand years of history and traditions, theater of extraordinary events that have marked the hands of time since its foundation. Lucca tells its story in the new edition of the festival, Lucca Historiae Fest, which this year will be held on the bastions of the city walls and at the Real Collegio, on 21, 22 and 23 June. Shows and historical reconstructions of different eras, exhibitions and exhibitions, from the first settlements of the Celtic-Lugurian population, to then become a Roman colony, from the Lombard duchy to Charlemagne and Matilda of Canossa, the Middle Ages with Castruccio Castracani, passing from the Renaissance to Napoleonic age, our city will reveal its secrets hidden in its past.

Lucca Historiae Fest, which this year also received the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, is a festival strongly supported by the municipal administration to encourage the dissemination of the history of the city through new methods capable of reaching a wide audience, not only adults, but also young people and children. Today (15 June), in the hall of mirrors of Palazzo Orsetti, the presentation of the event was held in which the mayor of Lucca participated Mario Pardinithe councilor of Difendere Lucca with responsibility for traditions and creator of the event, Lorenzo Del Bargathe councilors for culture, Mia Pisano and tourism, Remo Santini.

“This event is especially important for the dissemination of the history and traditions of our city and making them even more accessibleto curious citizens and also to scholars – says the mayor of Lucca, Mario Pardini – Within the festival you will be able to participate in every type and genre of event, both the one dedicated to children and the one for passionate and prepared people. A historic festival that is unique in Italywhich involves more than 1000 people and 900 participants who will come from all over our peninsula, we expect a large audience due to the informative nature of this event”.

“The format of the event will broadly follow that of last year – says councilor Del Barga – We have made a rationalization of the exhibition spaces, which this year will mainly be concentrated at the Real Collegio. There will be some news regarding the time clock on the walls. New groups and more summoners will be introduced for a new number of eras also covered. Finally there will also be new shows and events, with an area dedicated exclusively to children and the strengthening of the stands area in San Frediano”.

The time clock will tell the history of our city and will be located on the bulwarks of the walls – continues Del Barga -, let’s move on from its origins to Roman Lucca up to the twentieth century. There will be teaching, training elements and also performances by groups. Regarding events specifically, there will be various historical events: from historical dances, to flag-waving performances, to a conference held on Friday and then a large performance area on the stands of San FredianoWhere the medieval joust will also returnwhich last year was the most attended event by the public.”

The large events area in the stands of San Frediano has been confirmed. From this year it will also be set up the Royal Collegewhich he will host various activities including exhibitions and shows. The overall formula of the event has also been confirmed: the Clock of Timethe section that tells the story of the city and which will see historical reconstruction displays along the entire route of the Walls; events and shows, among which there will be the knights’ joust, the military camp with siege engines and various demonstrations, medieval fencing, performances by flag-wavers and musicians, historical Renaissance and 18th century dances. From this year there will also be one at the Real Collegio new area dedicated to the little ones with historical games. Also in this edition of there will be space for exhibitions and exhibitions that will concern miniatures of different types, market exhibition with various exhibitors, multimedia story of the history of Lucca, artillery display, show Re-Knowing the Walls and tasting typical local products.

“A festival on the history of the city – add the councilors for culture Mia Pisano and tourism Remo Santini – which edition after edition is growing from the point of view of its cultural and tourist offer and which this year has also obtained an important recognition from the ministry of culture. A complex event from an organizational point of view, since it is made up of several sections which essentially involve the city walls in their entirety, involving many cultural and associative realities.
