TREBISACCE (COSENZA) – «When they see the film in the theater and see the locations in which we shot, everyone will wonder where these places are and, you will see, that many people will come to Calabria and the Alto Jonio area of Cosenza, to discover the beauties of this land”: thus Fabio Segatori, director of the film “Don Chisciotte” shot entirely between Trebisacce, Rocca Imperiale, Oriolo, Roseto Capo Spulico and San Lorenzo Bellizzi even if they also offered a significant contribution to the making of the film the municipalities of Albidona and Villapiana.

The press conference on Don Quixote, held at the archaeological site of Broglio di Trebisacce after the last filming of the cast, at the exceptionally reconstructed Enotria hut, was also attended by Francesco Porcari, Board of Directors of the Lucana Film Commission and the extraordinary commissioner of the Calabria Film Commission, Anton Giulio Grande, both of whom spoke after the intervention of Segatori and Grande’s spokesman, Alessandro Russo. Mayors or municipal administrators of the municipalities where the film was shot were present and, as reported by Anton Giulio Grande, it is a prodigious promotional message for a territory.

The new mayor of Trebisacce, Franco Mundo, intervened on behalf of the mayors and expressed his willingness to host further film sets. «It will be successful, because the one shot directed by Segatori is a crafted Don Quixote which only in this way could interest and fascinate for a story known to all. My role was also ennobled by the contribution of the entire cast and in particular by Fiorenzo Mattu, interpreter of Sancho Pancia». The protagonist of the film, Alessio Boni, reported everything and was greeted by thunderous applause from those present. The press conference was enriched by the speeches of the very young actresses Gabriella Damiani from Melfi, the Dulcinea of the film; by Martina Molinari, debuting actress of Fligline Vigliaturo and the protagonist’s eighteen-year-old niece.

«The whole cast is Calabrian» Segatori was keen to remind us in thanking the director of photography, the Lucanian Ugo Lo Pinto, the architect Pino Rugiano di Villapiana, designer of the windmill, Paola Columbo screenwriter and film producer for Baby Film . Finally, it should be remembered that Segatori’s assistant director, Leonardo Formichella di Montegiordano, has just been elected municipal councilor of his community. The film will be promoted in national cinemas and then broadcast on the Rai networks which will broadcast it on television.
