The secretary of the Democratic Party club of Santa Vittoria in Sestri Levante, Maria Vittoria Zonfrillointervenes on the problem of parking on the Montedomenico-Sambuceti road, urging the mayor Francesco Solinas to intervene.

Zonfrillo’s statements

“As secretary of the Santa Vittoria PD club which follows the hamlets of Sestri Levante, I intend to intervene on the problem of the parking spaces on the Montedomenico sambuceti road where I have lived for years. Until now I have avoided intervening so as not to politicize the problem, today however I see myself forced to raise the case given the disinterest and delays in response from the Municipality. I am therefore urging the administration to give citizens timely answers for the solution to a serious problem that puts a large number of residents in difficulty. First of all, it must be clarified the ownership of the area which was improperly delimited by illegal stripes and signs, which have now been canceled in an equally improper manner. In the past I acted as President of the Valpetronio mountain community and managed many of the local roads which were built after expropriations, not. always registered in the land register and which in any case remained the indistinct property of all neighboring owners. The municipality must carry out careful research on this as soon as possible and establish origins and rights. The second question relates to the possibility of acquiring areas from the public sector in which to create parking spaces. Therefore, a feasibility study should be carried out as soon as possible to search for areas to potentially be expropriated, where public parking can be created. The Mayor has been consulted several times to find solutions and has the responsibility of considering the hamlets on an equal footing with the city center, as proclaimed in the names and programs of the lists that supported him in the elections. The municipal police have just as many responsibilities in responding to letters sent by residents. Citizens demand respect and concrete answers, they are already suffering from the lack of services. I remember that the protection of the hilly areas is entirely on the shoulders of the citizens who live in the hamlets where the fields are still cultivated and olive groves are maintained which safeguard the territory from hydrogeological risks” .

The position of the Solinas Administration

The mayor of the city of the two seas, in an article that appeared in Il Secolo XIX, in response to the center-left minority on the issue, declared:

“The traffic and parking problems of the hamlet of Montedomenico Alto have been under the attention of the Municipal Administration for some time due to the onset of local disputes. The administration immediately took action with meetings and discussions with the residents of the hamlet together with the competent municipal offices and the local police command. It is important to underline that the stretch of road which is the subject of discord does not allow, due to its small size, to regularize the presence of parking spaces and therefore justify parking on the side of the road.
Certainly the problem of parking areas is an important issue, on which the Municipal Administration is working with the Local Police and the technical offices, in the awareness that the territorial specificities of each fraction do not allow immediately implementable solutions. However, we are confident that we will be able to identify availability and planning that can lead to proposals that even partially satisfy the needs of the hamlet”.
