Tuscany Civic Network, the marathons for the next regional ones begin

The civic spirit of the Tuscan cities, that of the centre-right, has begun the technical tests to overcome “the home garden” (as Sena Civitas wrote) and try to unite around the next candidate for president of the region.
We will see, after the Pisa meeting, how much thread they will have available to weave the web. It’s called Rete Civica Toscana.
It is certainly a network that can count on a significant number of cities, mayors and local administrators.
The purpose is challenging. It presupposes a center-right that, really wanting to win, and not just trying, thinks that civic lists can make the difference in linking territories and regions. Indeed, he thinks of starting from civility, from his good practices.
But are the center-right parties really ready to play this card? Of course they will not have to give up their symbols but they will have to leave more than one space for heterogeneous forces and personalities.
What obstacles might this operation encounter? Certainly not from Fratelli d’Italia. And not even from a League that is carving out an extreme role for itself. The relationship between civility and Forza Italia is probably more complex.
Are we wrong to think that a lot of centre-right civility in the territories has been fueled by the crisis in Berlusconi’s ranks? And could frictions and competitions emerge underneath it all?
One element will help: the end of the “there is no longer any right or even left” phase which allowed daring transversalisms to civility. Ideologies, however, once again become a dividing line. It is no coincidence that the European elections had a majoritarian flavor, leaving several centrist forces at stake.
Of course, to understand better we will have to wait for the ballots on Sunday 23rd whose results will not be indifferent for the next regional elections. It is a fact, however, that the center-right did not wait for the closing of the ballots to reunite the Tuscan citizens.
Probably the intention was to give a signal to voters not to worry too much about “aligning” municipalities and the region today.
Naturally, the builder and guarantor of the entire operation can only be the candidate who will challenge Eugenio Giani.
It is not certain that they will succeed, but it is still an ambitious project. Or not?
