Today, Saturday 15 June, Avellino held a press conference to present the new season. The President Angelo D’Agostino, the coach Pazienza and the director of the technical area Perinetti were present.
The topics covered were different. The coach thus thanked the club for their continuity and trust: “I thank the club for renewing their trust in me and for appreciating my work and that of the staff. We must start again from what we have done well.”
A season lived at high levels, second place in group C, reaching the playoffs. But the dream of promotion vanishes in the semi-finals. The coach comments on next season like this: “I haven’t gotten over my anger yet but I did it on purpose. I want to take it with me, because I want to pass it on to the players of the new Avellino. I will lead the team based on the experience gained from last season. I won’t waste energy on other situations. I will keep the focus on our journey”.
The President’s comment: “The enthusiasm is there, we have embraced the cause together. We can’t help but give it our all, trying to do the best we can, in a difficult championship and in a football that is clearly not an exact science. At the same time, we are Avellino and I believe in it, I will believe in it until the end, until we have achieved the goal.”
Avellino, Pazienza: “These months have made me grow”
A season ended in second place in group C, qualification for the playoffs but the Serie B dream ended in the semi-final. “In the meeting with the owners, the season was first analysed. What to improve and where to intervene. There are situations in which I myself have to work better. We need to analyze the entire season and the characteristics of the players. When we talk about a more unscrupulous Avellino, it’s not me who makes him more unscrupulous, but the characteristics and situations of the match. For next season I want to start again from the last championship games where we saw the intensity that I like. The formation will be 3-5-2 with characteristics that can give us the possibility of changing even during the match”.
On enthusiasm: “These months in Avellino have made me grow from a professional point of view. I found the environment I was looking for. It was a strong experience, which left me with a lot, but which gave me the chance to make up for what I had done in the previous season. The staff? The company gave me the opportunity to make additions to my group. New figures will be added. Prof La Porta, it seems, has found a different arrangement. The match analyst will definitely be included. The goalkeeping coach took a few days to reflect. The group? The choices have already been made. We need to understand and evaluate the dynamics of the transfer market.” Very clear market objectives: “Whoever has to accept the project will have to come with the right hunger that this market is looking for. We need different characteristics that can give me the opportunity to change the structure and strategy.”

President D’Agostino comments on the situation of his team: “Here we go again, there is a desire for redemption and there is a desire to reschedule a new season. We had already said that we would continue and move forward, even if it went badly. Let’s start from where we arrived, aware that we have arrived close to our goal and shoring up the departments and areas that need changes. From management to the technical-sports area. We hope to make as few mistakes as possible, to be more far-sighted and a little luckier. This is the past, now we need to talk about the future”. He reiterates his trust: “On my part there is great esteem and trust, continuing a project that we set up last year. There is no forcing, because I have never had doubts about continuity, confirmation and trust towards the coach and the director. We had already done a two-year program, we hoped to do it a year earlier, but we’re moving forward.”
A comment also on the transfer market: “It’s clear that we have a series of players returning and we need to reduce the squad, because we need to be 23. 15-16 players need to leave, more or less, to then make room for those who can arrive. . The main problem, however, is not economic, but rather finding what we are missing.” News on the stadium: “I have already spoken to the Police Commissioner in recent weeks and he did not appear to be completely against further expansion. We could evaluate the increase in jobs in the sectors that are better placed, through a series of small jobs, which would allow us to add another 2-3,000 jobs. Now let’s see who the new Mayor will be. Having said that, the new stadium is far away, for reasons related to the settlement, permits and the works themselves. We will play this year and probably next year too in the old Partenio-Lombardi, because you can’t set up a stadium in such a short time.” A message to all the fans: “I thank them, first of all, because we often meet along the way. A truly beautiful sign of attachment to the team and the city, which I appreciate very much. This pushes us to always do better, because we do this above all for them.
