No to the Modica Court of Accountants of Syracuse

Also the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Syracuse manifests pdoubts about the proposal to establish the new Court of Modica by downsizing those of Ragusa and Syracuse. It also takes a position on the matter, like other professional categories, following the legislative initiative of the Sicilian Regional Assembly aimed at proposing this remodulation to Parliament.

If the idea were to materialise, it would lead to the suppression of the offices of Noto, Pachino, Portopalo and Rosolini from the district of the Court of Syracuse, to make them merge into that of Modica, with the related changes to the organic plants “in the field of human resources available under current legislation and without new or greater burdens on the state budget”.
In a note, the president of the Order of Chartered Accountants, Gaetano Ambrogio, expresses his disagreement with a hypothesis which, according to Syracuse professionals, “it is not clear what benefit it can produce. It would mean having two courts close to each other, Ragusa and Modica, weakening the Court of Syracuse and reducing its staff
magistrates and administrative staff, already particularly lacking today, whose surroundings include, among other things, the largest industrial center in Europe with the associated problems of an economic, environmental and labor dispute nature.
Considering the enormous volume of backlogs of cases registered in the register in matters of employment and in matters of family and personal rights, cases which according to the legislator deserve a speedy trial – continues Ambrogio – the plan
of the law discussed last March 6 at the ARS aimed at establishing the Court of Modica, weakening the Court of Syracuse, would result in very serious damage for the citizens and for the entire economic system of the provincial community”.
Also worrying is the prospect that the new Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Modica could be established, which would include colleagues from the municipalities of Modica, Pozzallo, Scicli, Ispica, Noto, Pachino, Porto Palo di Capo Passero and Rosolini .

“According to this undisclosed hypothesis, we will find ourselves with an Order of Accountants whose interlocutors will be the offices of Ragusa and Syracuse: Revenue Agency, INPS, INAIL Labor Inspectorate, Customs Agency, SIAE, creating overlaps in operational planning between different Orders. Not to mention the members, who will partly interact with the offices of Ragusa and partly with those of Syracuse, transferring the related problems to the new Order of Modica which will have to deal with them by dealing with the same offices of two different territorial competences and with internal organizations different.”
The Syracuse sections of the trade union organizations express themselves on the same wavelength: the National Association of Accountants, the National Union of Young Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts, the Italian Association of Chartered Accountants.
